Port Elizabeth - An 11-year-old girl from Humansdorp, who was allegedly raped on Christmas day two years ago, burst into tears while testifying about what had happened on that day.
The proceedings in the high court had to be adjourned for 30 minutes to allow the girl to calm down.
Francois Meyer, 36, from Humansdorp, is facing a rape charge.
He denied guilt.
The girl testified on Wednesday that "Fransman", as she referred to the accused, had pulled her into the bushes in the neighbourhood of Moeras River.
She testified that he had tied her legs with a rope and had sex with her against her will.
"He stuffed my mouth with wadding while he was doing these horrible things to me," the girl testified.
The girl was living with her grandmother at the time the alleged incident took place, and was on her way to buy milk when the accused allegedly raped her.
Zelda Swanepoel, the state prosecutor, asked the girl if she had liked "Fransman" before he raped her.
She answered yes.
Swanepoel then asked how she now felt about Meyer.
"Sad," the girl said inaudibly.
During cross-questioning by Gerrit Cilliers, for the defence, the girl started yawning and became restless.
The case continues on Thursday.
