Govt 'must support black farmers'

Johannesburg - The government has not been aggressive enough in supporting black farmers after land claims, Transport Minister Jeff Radebe said on Monday.
"We must give support to all those people so they can... utilise that land properly," Radebe told reporters in Johannesburg at a news briefing on the ANC's election manifesto conference, held over the weekend.
"As a government we have not been aggressive in support," added Radebe.
The election manifesto identified the creation of decent work, better education and health services, a drop in crime, and rural development, as the African National Congress' main priorities.
"Land reform is to be expanded, implemented more rigorously and linked to the creation of economic opportunities on a mass scale, with vastly improved post-settlement support," Radebe said.
