Cape Town - The Cape High Court on Friday ordered the immediate release on parole of convicted tax evader Colin Stanfield.
The court ordered that Stanfield's release should not be delayed and that paper work involving his release be done post haste.
In May, Stanfield, 48, was diagnosed with inoperable cancer in the left lung and admitted to the Southern Cross private hospital in Wynberg.
Medical experts estimated at the time that he had between six- and 12 months to live.
Stanfield was originally sentenced to six years in prison for tax fraud. He has served only about 16 months at the Helderstroom Prison in Villiersdorp.
Earlier on Friday residents from Cape Flats communities protested outside the court demanding Stanfield's release.
