33 drunk drivers arrested

Johannesburg - Metro police arrested 33 drunk drivers and impounded nine unroadworthy taxis in roadblocks over the weekend.
Spokesperson Inspector Edna Mamonyane said roadblocks were held in Eldorado Park, Hillbrow and Moroka.
Eleven drunk drivers were arrested in Eldorado Park, 17 in Moroka and five in Hillbrow.
Mamonyane said all nine taxis that were impounded had no emergency brakes with defective lights and steering racks.
According to the police all these taxi have to be fully repaired before they are allowed back onto the road with new licences.
Most drunken drivers were released on bail of R800 and the rest will appear in various courts around Gauteng on Monday.
