Johannesburg - Two men, believed to have shot and killed a 46-year-old Pretoria man during an armed robbery in Waterkloof Ridge were arrested on Friday, police said.
According to police, the two men, one armed with a firearm, entered Fred Picton-Turberville's residence in Waterkloof Ridge on Saturday night.
"The robbers held up the family, including four young children at gunpoint. Without warning one of the men shot Mr Picton-Turberville in the head," said Senior Superintendent Vishnu Naidoo.
The two men fled with money, cellphones and a laptop.
"Investigations by the crime intelligence head office led to the arrest of the two men today (Friday)," said Naidoo.
The men, both in their early twenties, were arrested at their Thembisa home shortly after noon on Friday.
Items, believed to have been stolen during other house robberies, were found on the premises.
"Detectives are now investigating the possibility that these men were involved in a spate of robberies," said Naidoo.
Both men were expected appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of murder, armed robbery and pointing of a firearm.
