Mom, sons found hanged

Johannesburg - A 35-year-old mother and her two sons were found hanged from doorframes in her Roodepoort flat on Wednesday morning, Johannesburg emergency services said.

Spokesperson Malcolm Midgley said the three were strangled with ropes.

The boys, aged seven and five, were hanging from the bedroom doorframe, while their mother hung from the kitchen door.

"When we got to the flat, the doors were wide open and the security gate was broken," said Midgley.

Neighbours told emergency services they heard some noise during the night, but did not have any information on the killings, said Midgley.

Names of the victims cannot be published until their next of kin are informed.
