Mmabatho - North West premier Popo Molefe announced a R1m
relief fund on Sunday to help communities affected by floods in several villages in the Taung district.
Houses, roads and bridges were damaged as a result of heavy rainfall on Thursday night.
Molefe said the money came from the Premier's Humanitarian Fund and was meant to assist people in Taung who had lost property and family members.
"We are exploring the possibility of assisting with agricultural starter packs for those who have lost their livestock.
We are very much touched by the plight of our people in Taung and are trying to make everything possible to ensure that they get relief", Molefe said.
