Johannesburg - The Kathorus child protection unit arrested a 21-year-old man in Tokoza, near Alberton, on Sunday in connection with the repeated rape of his 13-year-old niece, a police spokesperson reported.
Captain Thobile Xakeka said the man allegedly raped his niece four times in the course of 2002.
The girl's mother apparently died in 1996, and an agreement was reached within the family that the 21-year-old uncle would look after the girl. The uncle and the girl stayed with the girl's father in Tokoza and he took care of her while her father was at work.
The uncle later found employment and the girl was sent to Hazyview in Mpumalanga to stay with her father's relatives. She told an aunt in Hazyview that her uncle had raped her.
