Kimberley - Northern Cape police have confiscated 300kg of dagga and arrested two people, said Inspector Tony Modise on Wednesday.
Modise said police on patrol outside Delportshoop, about 50km north of Kimberley, about 19:00 saw a Gauteng-registered Mercedes-Benz with its bonnet open parked at the roadside next to open veld, and two men inspecting the engine.
When the police stopped to check they discovered a small quantity of dagga in the car and six 50kg bags of dagga in the veld nearby.
Modise said that, based on a street price of R10 a gram, the dagga had a street value of about R300 000.
The two men - a 35-year-old South African and a Lesotho citizen, aged 49 - were arrested and were due to appear in Barkly West magistrate's court soon on a charge of dealing in dagga, said Modise.
