Durban - A man sought in connection with the fatal shooting of Prince Mazwi Zulu was shot dead during a shootout with police on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast on Monday.
Superintendent Vishnu Naidoo said the man was one of two shot dead during Monday's encounter, while two others were seriously injured.
Police already have five other suspects in detention.
Naidoo said police saw five men on Monday travelling in two vehicles after acting on information about a possible robbery.
"Police spotted the men travelling in a Toyota Hi-Ace and an Isuzu bakkie and ordered them to pull off the road. A shoot-out ensued and two suspects were killed." Two were injured, and a fifth person, who was not injured, was arrested.
Six guns were confiscated.
The guns will be taken for ballistic testing to establish if they were used in other crimes.
Police believe the five men were responsible for several other robberies, which included cash-in-transit heists in the greater Durban area.
The injured are in hospital under police guard.
