Durban - A Durban man, suspected of killing a policeman, was shot dead in his home by police in KwaDukuza on Wednesday, police said.
Superintendent Jay Naicker said 28-year-old Lee Buthelezi was wanted for the murder last month of Superintendent Zethembe Chonco.
At the time Chonco was investigating a murder case allegedly involving Buthelezi.
Naicker said police swooped on Buthelezi's hideout on Wednesday morning and entered his room.
The suspect pulled out a 9mm weapon and police opened fire. Buthelezi was fatally wounded, Naicker said.
