Pretoria - A Pretoria pastor and his family were tied up by armed men in their home on Wednesday morning and robbed of goods worth more than R60 000, police reported.
Pastor Ncamile Goboza's wife, Khuselwa, was awoken by noises in their house in The Reeds about 03:00, said police spokesperson Captain Piletji Sebola.
She went to check on the couple's five children. In the kitchen, she was confronted by about 10 men, four of them armed with handguns.
The men tied up the couple, their children and a domestic worker, and ransacked the house, Sebola said.
They took jewellery, clothing and electrical appliances worth between R60 000 and R80 000. The goods were packed into the family car and a military vehicle Khuselwa Goboza had at home. She was employed by the military police.
After the men fled, neighbours heard the family's screams and came to their rescue.
It is believed the robbers broke through burglar bars to gain access to the house.
The two cars were later found abandoned near a Mamelodi graveyard.
