Miner stabbed by 14 men

Johannesburg - A 40-year-old miner was killed while walking to work in Welkom on Saturday, Northern Free State police said.
Police Inspector Stephen Thakeng said Elliot Tsheli and his friend Mabota Siwante, who both worked at President Brand mine in Welkom, were on their way to work when they were attacked around 4am.
Fourteen men produced knives and stabbed Tsheli in the chest, back and head. He died at the scene.
Siwante sustained head injuries and was admitted to Oppenheimer hospital in Welkom.
The motive for the attack is unknown.
