Pretoria - More allegations of racism at Hoërskool Voortrekkerhoogte in Pretoria are surfacing, after a 16-year-old pupil was attacked with scissors by a fellow learner.
A spokesperson for the Gauteng education department, Lebelo Maloka, says the claims will be investigated. He says the department views the rumours in a very serious light and if true, action will be taken.
A source said that Leon Swanepoel allegedly was attacked by a fellow pupil, who did not want to allow Swanepoel to pass him.
Swanepoel was stabbed in the face, chest and elbow.
The Military Police later escorted the pupil from the school premises for questioning.
Other reports of racial tension include a pupil trying to wrest a javelin from a girl practising her throws and another of a youngster being attacked with a brick.
When asked, the school's principal, Gatiep Prinsloo, said said the attack on Friday had been an isolated one.
