Gay couples ready to dance

Cape Town - A homosexual lobby group says it is to inform 59 secondary schools of the intention of one or more of their pupils to bring same-sex partners to their matric dances.
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance said on Tuesday that most of the pupils involved were its members, and that it was urging them to stand firm in claiming their rights.
"The GLA decided to advise these schools that... any action against such pupils... boils down to violation of basic human rights," the organisation said.
Two schools that the statement mentioned by name were Waterkloof in Pretoria, and Punt in Mossel Bay. Spokespersons for the schools were not immediately available for comment.
The GLA said it had also written to Education Minister Naledi Pandor asking for support in clamping down on homophobic behaviour at school level.
