Cape Town - The Sealand Express has been declared seaworthy and will be taken out of dry dock in Table Bay on Wednesday.
Experts inspected the ship's hull over the weekend and have said she is seaworthy enough to be towed to Durban for repairs.
The Sealand Express ran aground off Milnerton in Cape Town about a month ago and was only refloated last week.
A hole in one of its ballasts tanks has been repaired and damage to the bilge has also been fixed.
The cargo ship is to be towed to Durban where it will undergo repair work to its steering mechanism and hull. The second round of repair work will be carried out in Durban as Table Bay's dry dock is fully booked and the ship's owners need to put her back into service as soon as possible.
