Johannesburg - A 28-year-old man was arrested in Makhado for the alleged murder of a teacher and a SARS employee, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.
Captain Maano Sadike said the man was arrested at a house in Madabani in Limpopo on Monday with goods stolen from both the deceased.
The body of a 42-year-old SARS official from North West was found in Fort Edward with gunshot wounds, said Sadike.
"A body of a teacher working for the Malamulele district office was also found in Ledig in Makhado. His hijacked Opel Corsa was found abandoned in Madabani, 15km away.
"The murders happened a week apart," said Sadike.
He said the suspect has been positively linked to the murders.
"He was found in possession of the SARS worker's bank cards and cellphone. He was also found in possession of the teacher's car stereo and bank cards," he said.
Last week Thursday, his accomplice escaped after he was involved in a car accident with police who were taking him to point out the crime scene.
"The suspect allegedly disturbed the driver, who lost control. One police officer was killed, two others were seriously injured," said Sadike.
The suspect escaped.
However, he was found in a house in Madabani, said Sadike.
