Cape Town - Rescue workers were trying to retrieve the body on Monday of a rock climber who fell off Cape Town's Table Mountain.
Wilderness Search and Rescue spokesperson Hugo Vaughn said rescuers were trying to retrieve the body of an American tourist who fell off the mountain on Sunday afternoon.
"The man in his early 30s fell off the mountain while rock climbing alone.
"A team of about 20 rescue personnel are at the moment trying to locate his remains on the upper ledge of the mountain," said Vaughn.
In a second incident also on Sunday a Capetonian fell off the Matroosberg, near Ceres.
"The man had been with a group of people while climbing the Conical Peak section of the mountain when he slipped off and fell.
"He fell into a gorge," he said.
Vaughn said the man's body had not been found as it had been snowing.
"We have not been able to retrieve his body due to the bad weather in the area," he said.
