Non-striking guards gunned down

Johannesburg - Two non-striking security guards have been fatally shot in Durban in attacks believed to be linked to the ongoing security guard strike, the Daily News reported on Monday.
Its website said security guard Eugene Dube was seriously wounded at his place of employment in Pinetown on Sunday night when six armed men attacked him.
Police spokesperson Inspector Rani John said Dube was rushed to a local hospital, but died on the operating table.
In Chatsworth, a uniformed guard was gunned down while waiting to be transported to work.
"The guard was waiting to be picked up for work when he was shot in the back of his head," said John.
The man died at the scene and no arrests were made. Police have not released his name because his next of kin have not been notified.

KwaZulu-Natal police have set up a special task team to investigate the spate of murders of non-striking security guards.
On Monday last week, two security guards were killed in Umlazi.
Police reported that a mob chased after a guard who had alighted from a train and killed him with rocks and stones.
Another guard was thrown off a train and killed while another man was critically injured.
