Johannesburg - A 71-year-old Western Cape diver suffered severe lacerations to his buttocks on Saturday - because a boat was steered over him.
According to the National Sea Rescue Institute, the driver of the boat did not see the man in the water.
The propeller lacerated the diver several times as the boat went over him.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, said the man was airlifted to hospital and is in a stable condition.
The man and two other divers were spear fishing in Melkbosstrand.
A fisherman on a canoe managed to pull the injured man to safety.
