Cops accused of killing suspect

Nelspruit - The Independent Complaints Directorate is investigating allegations that police beat a hijacking suspect to death in Nelspruit.
The man was arrested with two others just hours after the hijacking in KaNyamanzane on May 1, 2007.
A day after their arrest, one of the suspects was found dead in the holding cells.
The other two suspected hijackers, Elkin Shabangu and Dennis Mbuyane, appeared briefly in the Nelspruit regional court on Wednesday.
Shabangu and Mbuyane are being kept in custody and will appear in court again on March 9.
They have pleaded not guilty to armed robbery, and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
