Johannesburg - Twenty-seven taxi drivers were arrested in Orange Farm outside Johannesburg on Wednesday for allegedly intimidating commuters, police said.
Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the taxi drivers were protesting at the main taxi rank in Orange Farm when they allegedly began to intimidate commuters.
Minnaar said the taxi drivers were disgruntled over losing business to buses.
He said 24 taxis were impounded by police during the protest.
