Durban - The bodies of an elderly couple were discovered by their daughter when she visited them at their home in Stella Road, Hillary, about 20km outside Durban on Saturday morning, said police.
Superintendent Vish Naidoo said the daughter, who asked not to be named, first found the body of her mother, Lynn van Rooyen, 77, on the veranda when she arrived at the house about 09:00.
The distraught daughter, in her 30s, then found the body of her father, Frederick van Rooyen, 70, in the toilet.
Naidoo said detectives were still investigating and it was not known if anything had been taken.
"There was a lot blood, so at this stage we do not yet know how the victims were killed, whether by guns or otherwise, and no suspects have been arrested."
Naidoo said case was being investigated by Durban's serious and violent crimes unit.
