Johannesburg - Five people were arrested in Galeshewe in separate incidents for trading in illegal liquor and dagga, Northern Cape police said on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Captain Tony Modise said three women, aged 25, 47 and 49, were arrested for illegally trading in liquor in Galeshewe over the weekend.
Police raided various shebeens and arrested the women for selling liquor without a licence.
Liquor worth R15 000 was confiscated during raids at the women's houses.
Two men, aged 48 and 26, were also arrested for dealing in dagga.
A routine search on the weekend at their houses found R22 000 worth of the drug.
Those arrested are due to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Modise said the police would hand over the addresses of the houses were the people were arrested to the asset forfeiture unit.
Further investigations may lead to the attachment of the properties through a court order, police said.
"With this step the police want to end the use of properties for criminal activities of any form and nature," he said.
