Child is raped while mom shops

Standerton - A baby girl not yet two years of age was raped at her home in Vukuzakhe, Volksrust, near Standerton on Saturday, Mpumalanga police said on Monday.
Captain Sibongile Nkosi said the girl's mother told police she had left the child with a family member and went to town with her husband on Saturday morning.
When she came back about 16:30, she saw her daughter
could not walk properly and that she had been crying, said Nkosi.
The mother asked the child what was wrong, but the little girl was too young to be able to explain what had happened.
Later, the child asked her mother to take her to the toilet,
where the mother noticed blood stains on her daughter's panties.
The child was taken to hospital where it was confirmed
she had been raped, said Nkosi.
