Johannesburg - A woman of 60 has been arrested in Tembisa on the East Rand in connection with the death by strangulation of her 100-year-old mother.
Captain Sophie Mayisela said on Friday the 100-year-old mother was hit and then strangled about 15:30 on Thursday.
Mayisela said that, according to her two grandchildren who allegedly saw the killing and reported it to police, the 60-year-old daughter told her frail mother she was tired of looking after her.
The woman is due to appear in Kempton Park magistrate's court on Monday.
