Reitz - A 36-year-old man from this area is due to appear in the magistrate's court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a woman on her farm two days before Christmas.
Anna Christina Kleynhans, 59, was allegedly strangled and had a wound to the head.
A post-mortem will be held to determine whether, among other things, she was shot in the head.
One of her sons, Ignatius "Tossie" of Frankfort, found his mother's body on the bed in his parents' bedroom on Thursday evening. There was blood on her head and on the bed.
Next to her, he found three empty liquor bottles. The content of a wardrobe had been emptied out on the floor.
Her husband, Nic, who was in town at the time, and police were called.
Police found signs of a possible struggle in the kitchen. There were also blood smears and signs that she might have been dragged into the main bedroom.
One of Nic Kleynhans' vehicles was missing.
Sentenced to 60 years' jail
Two years ago, the Reitz community was shattered when a well-known couple in town, 49-year-old Ronnie and 48-year-old Elize Hunt, and their oldest son 26-year-old Ronnie jun were shot in their house by a 16-year-old schoolboy.
The boy confessed that he shot them after Hunt sen slapped him because he drank with friends and was under the influence of alcohol.
The teenager was sentenced to 60 years in prison by Bethlehem Circuit Court last year; he has to serve 20 of the 60 years.
