Johannesburg - Police say a 38-year-old security guard has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Nedbank branch in Sandton on Tuesday.
Captain Bheki Mavundla said the security guard, who worked at the Broadacres shopping centre, was arrested on suspicion that he had helped two gunmen rob the bank.
The robbery took place at the shopping centre about 09:00.
Mavundla said the men took money from tellers and forced tellers at gunpoint into the bank manager's office, demanding keys to a safe.
"When they failed to get the keys, they fled," said Mavundla.
A supermarket manager who was there to deposit money was also robbed.
Mavundla said the men did not fire any shots and no one was injured during the robbery. The men fled in a blue Opel Monza and were still at large.
