Cape Town - A 22-year-old man handed himself over to Cape Town police on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Inge Lotz, whose bloodied body was found in her flat on the outskirts of Stellenbosch in March.
Superintendent Riaan Pool said a warrant of arrest was issued for the suspect earlier this week.
"He was arrested at approximately eleven o'clock this morning by detectives investigating the Inge Lotz murder when he, accompanied by his legal representative and on instruction of the investigating team, handed himself over to police at the Cloetesville police station," Pool said.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Stellenbosch magistrate's court later on Wednesday.
Twenty-two-year-old Lotz was allegedly beaten to death with an ornamental hammer.
During the investigation, police searched the home of Lotz's former boyfriend, Fred van der Vyver.
However, Pool on Wednesday declined to confirm that this was the man who had handed himself in.
