Johannesburg - The South African weather bureau issued another cold weather warning on Thursday in anticipation of a severe drop in temperature.
For those who do not want to believe it, a trip to Sutherland in the Cape should change their minds. The expected minimum temperature on Friday will drop to -1° with an expected high of 13°.
For Gauteng residents and those in the interior, the weather bureau warned that they could also expect a cold snap. Extremely cold conditions are expected in the Eastern Cape, and the eastern, high-lying regions of the Western Cape.
Snow is expected on the southern mountain peaks in the Western Cape, as well as on the Winterberg mountains and the southern Drakensberg.
The cold conditions are expected to reach Gauteng by Friday afternoon. The weather bureau said by Monday the cold snap should have moved off over the Indian Ocean.
Maximum temperatures are expected to be only half of what they have been in the past few days.
The weather bureau said the cold front would collide with tropical air from the north and would hopefully bring widespread rain.
