Zebediela - Five family members were arrested on Thursday on murder charges after the death of a woman suspected of witchcraft at their home in a Limpopo village at the weekend, police said on Friday.
Captain Malesela Ledwaba said police were searching for a sixth person.
The victim, believed to be aged about 80, went to drink at Tsantsabela village in Zebediela.
She got lost on her way home. She entered the family's home and called out her daughter's name, said Ledwaba.
He said the five of six family members assaulted the woman until she died. The name she had called out was also that of one of their siblings who had died two months previously.
"The family members attacked her, believing it (her arrival) had to do with witchcraft," said Ledwaba. "We really discourage such behaviour."
Three of the five were arrested on Thursday, and two on Friday morning.
