Johannesburg - The department of foreign affairs is to request evidence from the Israeli government regarding allegations that South Africa is co-operating with Iran's nuclear programme, SABC News reports.
Responding to a report in an Israeli newspaper, Nomfanelo Kota, the foreign affairs spokesperson, has refuted the allegations, saying they are unfounded.
The report quotes a senior diplomatic source in the office of Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister, accusing South Africa of agreeing to store Iran's nuclear weapons parts.
According to SABC News, Kota says South Africa will, via diplomatic channels, request Israel to clarify the allegations' bases.
