East London - Four people were killed when a small aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from East London, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.
Captain Ernest Sigobe said the plane had just left Wings Park, a private air park just outside the city, when it crashed on Sunday.
"It crashed immediately after take-off. All four occupants died at the scene. Our guys are still at the scene trying to establish what had caused the accident.
"We cannot at this stage reveal the names of the people who died."
Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson Phindile Gwebu was not immediately available for comment.
