Johannesburg - Four men were arrested after they allegedly robbed two cash-in-transit security guards of a safe box that they were loading into a van in Cleveland in Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.
Captain Cheryl Engelbrecht said the four men waited for a Fidelity cash-in-transit van to pick up a safe box from Comspares in Main Reef road around noon on Tuesday.
As the two guards exited the business with the safe box, the four men allegedly held them at gunpoint and took the safe box.
Police, who were in the area, were notified of the robbery and gave chase.
The four men were caught and arrested. One firearm, a knife and a Mazda 323 were recovered.
One shot was fired but no one was injured.
Police were investigating a case of armed robbery.
The four men would be appearing before the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon, said Engelbrecht.
