Soldiers killed in car crash

Bloemfontein - Two South African Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers were killed and three injured in an accident on the N1 highway near Bloemfontein on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Annelie Wrensch said the accident happened at 10:00 about 25km south of Bloemfontein.
"Five SANDF members stationed at 44 Parachute Regiment at Tempe were travelling to Tierpoort with a Land Rover to attend a course."
Wrensch said the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and it collided with a tree.
Corporal M Mtshiki, 39, died at the scene while Corporal PA Mintoor, 28, died at 3 Military Hospital at Tempe.
The driver of the vehicle, Sergeant B Bhejane, 44, had serious injuries to his head, neck, chest and shoulder.
Police said the other passengers in the vehicle were Warrant Officer A de Bruyn, 44, who had light injuries and Corporal CT Mafumbuka, 38, who suffered head injuries.
All the injured are being treated at 3 Military Hospital.
Wrensch said a case of culpable homicide would be investigated.
