Cape Town - The relocation of people displaced by xenophobic violence in the Cape Town area continued on Saturday with residents of the Silwerstroom safety centre being moved to Bluewaters, a spokesperson for the City of Cape Town said.
About 200 people will be relocated, most from Silwerstroom, as well as 58 from the Chryssalis manor community hall and two from the Solomon Mahlangu settlement.
Because most are Muslim, the city decided to let them stay there until the end of Ramadan, city spokesperson Pieter Cronje said.
After that they would be "persuaded" to leave, with eviction a last resort.
Thousands of people were displaced during attacks on foreigners in May.
