Attacker batters woman

Bela Bela - A Limpopo woman is recovering in hospital after a farm attacker ambushed her in her kitchen and battered her with a bag of stones, police said on Tuesday.
The woman of Leeupoort farm near Bela Bela, formerly Warmbaths, had just arrived home about 13:30 on Monday when a man leapt from his hiding place, hit her in the face with the bag and demanded money.
"He took an undisclosed amount of money and a cellphone from her," said Bushveld police spokesperson Captain Malesela Ledwaba.
The frightened woman managed to escape to an adjoining room and grab a gun before the suspect caught up with her.
"She fired several shots at him and he dropped the stolen goods before fleeing," said Ledwaba.
The woman was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment for injuries to her cheek.
Police are still searching for the suspect. Investigations continue. - African Eye News Service
