Cops arrest robber at mall

Johannesburg - One man from the gang of twelve robbers that robbed and assaulted an Erasmia family was arrested on Saturday evening, Pretoria police said.
Spokesperson Constable Patricia Simelane said the man was arrested at Fourways Mall and the two vehicles that were stolen was recovered.
Earlier in the day twelve men robbed and assaulted a man and his family. The man from Doringrandgies in Erasmia was on his way home from an auction in Krugersdorp when he was followed by the robbers.
"The robbers confronted the man at his gate and forced him into his house where his wife and other family members were."
"The robbers demanded cash. After they were given R25 000 they wanted more and started to beat the man and his wife," said Simelane.
According to police the family was seriously assaulted and are receiving treatment in hospital.
The man is charged with armed robbery and is expected to appear in court soon.
