East London - Eastern Cape health authorities have arrested another bogus traditional healer in Libode, bringing the number of charlatan surgeons arrested to 17.
They face a variety of charges, including murder and unlawful circumcision, said health spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo.
He said one initiate lost the front part - not the foreskin - of his penis and was admitted to St Barnabas Hospital.
"Three of his co-initiates were taken to theatre and recircumcised," said Kupelo.
Another 25 initiates have been admitted to Mthatha Hospital complex with circumcision-related complications.
The number of initiates who have died since the start of the winter circumcision season has risen to 15.
