Durban - A driver is recovering from shock after unknown gunmen opened fire on his minibus taxi at the Chesterville taxi rank on Tuesday morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Superintendent Vincent Mdunge said the taxi had been driving in the area at 05:40 when the gunmen "randomly fired shots in the taxi's direction".
While trying to escape the man crashed the taxi into a nearby house, causing the vehicle to overturn. It was not known if he was carrying passengers at the time, but Mdunge said no injuries were reported.
"The suspects are unknown but police are investigating," he said.
