Johannesburg - Gauteng transport MEC Khabisi Mosunkutu on Monday held a meeting with mayors, councillors and members of mayoral committees to discuss a plan to reduce the number of road accidents during the festive season.
Mosunkutu said his department, in co-ordination with other law enforcement agencies, were consolidating the plan.
He said new technology, including new cars and special speed measuring devices, would be used to curb accidents.
"There is a serious problem that we should deal with, especially involving trucks.
"Sspecial devices would be used to weigh trucks and buses to make sure that their loads are within the allowed capacity."
