Johannesburg - The police have appealed for the public's help in locating 10-year-old Tina Benade who went missing in Jeppestown on Saturday while selling clothes with her aunt and sister on the side of the road.
Sergeant Sanku Tsunke said an unknown man approached the three, expressing interest in their merchandise. The man, however, said he wanted to trade some cell phones for the clothes and needed the girls to accompany him to his nearby residence.
"Tina went along with this man and then that's the last time she was seen," Tsunke said. He said her sister got suspicious along the way and decided to turn around.
The case was reported to police who got a tip-off that a young girl had been spotted walking with a man along the N2 West highway, near the Denver turnoff.
Tsunke said Benade was wearing a white t-shirt with green spots, yellow and blue shorts and white slippers when she disappeared. She has light brown hair and is a bit chubby, he said.
Anyone with information about the girl can contact police on 082 961 2459.
