Johannesburg - A 30-year-old man is to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday for possession of stolen Vodacom starter packs, MTN pay-as-you-go packs and 72 cellphone batteries, police said.
Inspector Yolande Bouwer said an off-duty police reservist spotted a man selling the items by the side of Luipaardsvlei Road, and alerted his on-duty colleagues.
Inspector Werner Caroto and reservist Constable Jeremy Berry of the Roodepoort dog unit approached the man, and asked him if the bag was his. When he said it was, they looked inside it, found the suspected stolen items and arrested the man.
Detectives are to investigate the source of the goods, Bouwer said.
The arrested man will be held in custody until Monday.
