Pretoria - A car chase through Pretoria's eastern suburbs on Tuesday ended when three suspects crashed their car into an oncoming vehicle.
Constable Brenda Kgafela said Brooklyn police noticed three men driving in a blue Audi A3 that had been reported hijacked last month.
When the police tried to pull the men from the road, they sped off with the cops in hot pursuit.
The men drove to Elardus Park where they crashed into another car and abandoned the Audi.
Kgafela said the driver of the other car was not injured.
The suspects fled and exchanged gunfire with police.
Tried to flee in minibus
Police caught one of them in a security complex in the suburb and another who had tried to get into a minibus taxi.
The third one got away.
Police seized a firearm that was in the procession of one of the men.
Charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder were being investigated.
