Cape Town - Six children aged between nine and 15 appeared on murder charges in the Joubertina Magistrate's Court on Monday, Eastern Cape police said.
The six - five boys and a girl - were arrested following the death of an 11-year-old girl, Roseline Majola, who was stoned to death at Tulpieskraal farm on Friday night.
Police spokesperson Marinette Olivier said children were allegedly drinking when they got into an argument over a bottle of wine.
Majola died in the ensuing fight.
Olivier said the children were arrested when they went to the Joubertina police station on Saturday morning to report the incident.
She said the magistrate ordered that the children be held in custody until their next appearance, on March 25.
Their parents had been in court, Olivier said.
