Cape Town - Paying workers less is a recipe for disaster, Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana said on Thursday, SABC news reported.
He was speaking during his visit in De Doorns in the Boland which was recently hit by xenophobic attacks.
"What the employers of South Africa forget is that workers will talk even if they are Zimbabweans and they will talk even if they are South African.
"They will indicate how much we get, how much we earn and how much we didn't get," said Mdladlana after listening to testimonies from Zimbabweans and labour brokers about farmers in De Doorns.
About 3 000 foreign national s were displaced when locals drove them out of the area, accusing them of stealing their jobs. His department has since launched a probe into the labour problems.
Mdladlana said farmers allegedly prefer to hire Zimbabweans because they were willing to work for less.
