Pietermaritzburg - Police murderer Linda Dlamini, 34, who is confined to a wheelchair, was jailed for life and given five 15-year sentences by Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.
Dlamini was jailed by Judge Kate Pillay for the murder of a policeman when he and a fellow detainee escaped from police custody in Pietermaritzburg.
The policeman, Sibusiso Bhengu, was shot dead with a pistol smuggled into the police station in February 2000.
Dlamini was in detention for hijacking a vehicle.
A second escape attempt, from Pietermaritzburg's New Prison, ended in disaster for him.
He jumped from the third floor of the prison and a fellow prisoner, Mabuso Nkandi, jumped on top of him, breaking Dlamini's leg so badly that it was later amputated.
