Mandela book not endorsed

Johannesburg - The Nelson Mandela Foundation warned on Tuesday that it had not endorsed any tribute book for Madiba, after a proposal in this regard was sent to various organisations.
"We would like to draw the public's attention to a proposal being sent out to various organisations, nationally and internationally, by a company called TOPCO Media, inviting paid participation in a Nelson Mandela tribute book."
The foundation said the book had not been endorsed by any of the Nelson Mandela organisations.
"We wish to inform you that neither the Nelson Mandela Foundation, nor its sister charities, will benefit from or are associated with this venture," said Achmat Dangor, chief executive of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
"Indeed, it directly competes with our fund-raising initiatives where all the proceeds go to charity and our efforts to safeguard against the exploitation of Mr Mandela's name and image," said Dangor.
