Johannesburg - Mpumalanga police were on Tuesday still looking for two men who robbed a police station in Kaapmuiden, along the N4 highway, of cash.
Two armed men entered the charge office around 01:40 on Monday and assaulted the inspector on duty, said Superintendent Abie Khoabane.
"They handcuffed and assaulted him, searched him and took the keys to the safe."
After taking an undisclosed amount of cash they fled.
Shortly before the attack two police officers left the station to investigate a call received about a "suspicious-looking vehicle" blocking a road.
