Johannesburg - Three armed robbers hijacked the driver of a truck transporting maize between Ogies and Delmas on Thursday, Mpumalanga police said.
The robbers attacked the man after he stopped his truck to remove three drums that were blocking the road, said Captain Johannes Barnard on Friday.
They forced him to drive to a nearby field and off-loaded the R30 000 worth of maize, Barnard said.
"The men robbed the driver of his keys and forced him back into the truck where they tied him up with shoe laces."
The robbers then fled with only a portion of the maize.
Nobody has been arrested yet.
